We hope you will join the Honorary
Committee of the eighth annual Breaking Bread for Breakthrough luncheon on
Thursday, October 6, 2011 at the Fairmont San Francisco. Funds raised from the event will launch
thousands of Breakthrough students on the road to a college education and
inspire hundreds of outstanding college and high school students to pursue careers
in education.
Our luncheon speaker is Michael Horn, a
nationally recognized thought leader in educational innovation who has been featured recently as a
speaker at the Aspen Institute, and as an op-ed contributor for the Economist and Education Week. He is co-author of the celebrated book “Disrupting
Class: How Disruptive Innovation will Change the Way the World Learns.” Horn is also the co-founder and Executive
Director of Education at Innosight Institute, a non-profit think tank devoted
to applying the theory of disruptive innovation to develop solutions to
problems in the social sector. Horn’s expertise on innovations in
education relates well with Breakthrough’s unique Students-Teaching-Students
model.

lend their names to the invitation and program, host a table of ten guests at
the luncheon if they are able, and make a financial contribution at the Summa ($10,000
or higher), Magna ($5,000), or Cum Laude ($2,500) level.
